LOL, very nice, original too :)
I like it! By the way, is there a little black spec on the sphere in the
middle of the left half, or is it just my imagination? It looks like it's
reflecting a black object that's a very long way away.

Looks more like a patch glitch to me.
At a rough guess, I'd say that the sphere(?) was modelled in sPatch or
Hamapatch.
I think that that image is going to be a 'keeper' though. I like it :)

It *is* made of bicubic patches, but I *didn't* use a modeller!

I can't remember such creatures from the story itself, but I recall having
seen a version of the book in a bookstore which had such creatures on the
front. Is that correct?
