The news server doesn't expire old messages in this group.  In fact I think
the only group it ever did expire messages in was povray.off-topic (that was
with a two week period).

You'll probably find if you look up the options under Tools -> Options ->
Maintenence you'll find your answer.

It's gone. It must've gotten purged.  Seems like there's only a years worth
of messages in here now.

It wasn't me who first complained about security... and I'm not
bashing it either (knowing that you're around :) ) . I just supposed
that if one has been using a program for so long, one has configured
it to one's taste, so the problem must lie somewhere else.

I hope the original poster overcomes his problem with OE.
