Maybe there just isn't any way around that lathe "bug" unless the camera is
complete non-parallel with any height of the lathe object.
This is my rendition of the glass and liquid thermometer I tried after seeing
what Kallek had made and posted on 11/1/00.
I reduced the floor plane to a smaller area so that it wouldn't align opposite
the camera and the artifact still shows up. My apologies to Kallek, for me not
believing.
Something odd happened to this render BTW. The checkered plane, with no
coincident surfaces at all, has speckles in it. Not a thing I can find to
explain why.

P.S. what a broken tooth, toothache, dentist visit for teeth (two of them)
pulling can do: almost 300 post reading backlog in this group alone. Don't you
people have other things to do! ;-) Just kidding.

Bob

Well, I get home from work, collapse in front of Cartoon Network for
about an hour, have my tea, play through another day of ShenMue (I'm
rationing myself to one day of game time per day of real time) then go
online, and check email and news.

Other than that, and the occasional bit of playing around with POV via
Moray and the occasional other excursion, no, I don't have much else
better to do <grin>.

Bye for now,
     Jamie.

Hey! I don't mind! It's OK.

Show the source! I think at least for this "error" we will find out the
reason.

Do you know where i was today? (rhetorical question)
Visiting a dentist for the second time this week! And there will be more
visits (four pieces) because I did the mistake to not visit him for four
years. Now: eleven holes :-( . no hole in the past.

About on par with my existence, so I'm not one to judge.

OK, for what it's worth. Thought maybe someone would want a look at the
rainbow anyhow though.

<dental commercial>Been about 15 years without dentist visits for me. Wisdom
tooth had pushed it's way into tooth in front which had filling already and it
finally broke off part. A bad thing it turns out... brushing alone isn't
everything. They'll be drilling my teeth for a while now too no doubt.</dental

Looks liek a containing box or somthing's intersecting with the floor. Apart
from that a real nice image.

Oh ho, havn't been to the dentist for about four or five years now, I shoud go
for a checkup.

I have many more important things to do than post here, but this is my only
escape.

I've just had a thought, imagine if everyone from all of the groups from here
stopped posting here for a week and posted all our usual stuff on c.g.r.r :-))

Well, if I didn't have anything else to do then I'd make a nice scary render
of the big needle that the dentist probably stuck into your mouth, just to
give everyone nightmares for the next few days. ("Aaaaaaaaaaahhhhh!!!!!")

Hi Dave. I don't think I even had any shots. Just a IV needle in the arm that I
couldn't really feel. It was
the best dentist visit in my life. When I woke up after about a minute to fall asleep
and get back awake in a
half hour or so, I said they could pull all my teeth if they wanted to. Was clumsily
tottering about the rest
of the day is all. I have since regained my senses and want my teeth back for better
chewing ability. Well,
not really, the non-wisdom tooth was sticking into my cheek anyway and so far back
there I doubt it'll matter
much.
Rendering up a dentist room has crossed my mind more than once.

Bob

I do not know about the lathe object, but this "bug" also happens with sor
if you do not use the sturm keyword. Try it and see...

-That would make a good "Horror Topic" IRTC entry.
