How did you get the mapping to work?

Just so I'm sure I'm understanding what I'm looking at, here, Robert,
let me ask:

this is a Poser model that you've somehow exported and rendered in POV?
How did you go
about doing that? Did you encounter any special pitfalls?

There's something weird about her right wrist.

The steps are as follows....

Found the texture map and gown on the net.

Generated her in POSER.

Exported her to an OBJ file from POSER

Edited the OBJ using UVMAPPER because the hair overlays the whole middle of
the UVMap. Saved the updated OBJ

Used the SPTVision tif map and edited it to put the hair-color on the map in
the right spot for the hair object.

Generated POV source using OBJuvPOV to convert the OBJ file.

Used MEGAPOV to edit the .POV and .INC files, specifically, changed the
camera position, added fingernail texture, dress texture (can't see it so
much in this view, other renders I tried, the gown was quite revealing... a
bit risque for public display in my mind). You need MEGAPOV to map the UV
placement of the texture onto the object.

Rendered the picture.

Her wrist looks funny, might have been something I moved that caused that or
the angle the arm ended up... one of the biggest problems I've had with
Poser is in moving and placing objects. It is not the neat, specify a
number like POV which I can place objects in rather nicely. Using POSER,
you are moving the objects around with the mouse and sometimes the body
parts seem to have a mind of their own. Tried putting a figure across the
back of a horse... it kept twisting about the waist at a funny angle when I
attempted to place the arms of the figure... so I went for something a bit
easier and came up with this.

All in all, I'd say not bad for about a weeks worth of intense learning.
Stay tuned, more to come! :-)
