Nice, the larger spheres could be less dull IMO.
I like the ground, how did you do it ? (layered texture i suppose, but don't
know)

Very nice, I love the colours and contrasts in this. It looks like some
ancient but still functioning alien machine.

Well, the image started out as a radiosity experiment, and the lack of
highlights was an aesthetic decision.

You're correct. It's four layered checker pigments, the top three featuring
filter, and scaled by 1, 0.75, 0.5 and 0.25 respectively.
