that's the next step... along with trying to make ice cubes... anyone got any
bright ideas foe ice cubes... i forgot to ask in the original post... =]
btw the stick is soposed to be a straw, i'll work on that, but its mainly to
show off the refraction of the glass and liquid... =]

that's what i thought... i remember trying photons a long time ago on my
sloooooooow 80mhz computer and gave up at the 1st, oh i don't know 30 min for a
basic glass sphere without one pixel of rendering... =[

The glass looks very thick like that blue glass you can buy in Mexico. I
think the glass still needs a little work. I like the liquid material,
however. It looks very "commercial art."

What shape are you using now? Lathe?
If it is a cubic lathe you may get a faster rendering using my
Lathe2Patch macro (it make a lathe, but out of bicubic patches wich are a
bit faster to render)
see http://www.hoogi.de/lutz-peter/render/jlathe/jlathe_eng.html

It is the all versatile, wonderful, stupendous.... Blob.... My favorite
shape out of all the features except media runs a close tie... =]

How did you make the glass with a blob?
Negative blob-components?
I alway got artefacts with that apporach (probably a precision problem)
unless I used thick (IMO too thick) walls for the glass.

No wonder your scene was so slow! A glass like that would be easy to make
with CSG or a simple mesh. I only use blob when there is no other way to do
something. Glad it's there, though, because sometimes nothing else will do.

that's why its so thick... =] You unraveled my secret... =] JK
it takes a bit of practice to get the negative pieces correct... Most of
what i know is from HE Day... Where is that kid by the way... =]

I do not think it is because of the blob... They are relatively fast... I wish
that they could be as versatile as iso or that iso was as fast at rendering...
My only complaint about blobs is there is no easy way to make a cubical
component that will integrate with the others without messing with the
strengths allot to compensate for the negative components... =]
