Yes, fine, but why abandon a colour of 1?

Why the strangeness of 1??
Why should 1 whiteout when >1 and <1 give the expected effects??

Meanwhile... 1 is no-go... Until 3.5?

(One day I might make time from rendering to look at the C code :-o)
