That looks good, i really like the finishes of all the objects. Of course
radiosity would be worth trying for the darker areas.

The light source of the lamp looks like a cone with double_illuminate
modifier. So you are right, there is a no_shadow in effect. But above
this cone I put another semi-transparent cone to make the lampshade cast
a shadow.

Mmhhh, may be. I'll see what can I do.

Thank you!

Thanks for your comments. Bellow is the table texture but sometimes, a
texture which works fine in a scene doesn't in another.

texture{
	finish{phong 1  reflection .075}
	pigment{wood  color_map{[0 rgb <1, .5, 0>][1 rgb .9*<1, .5, 0>]}
		ramp_wave  scale 5  rotate <0 90 0>
		warp{turbulence .0625  octaves 6  omega 3  lambda .35}
		translate  50/6*z
		warp{repeat 50/3*z offset <75,20,0>}
		translate -50/6*z
	}
}
texture{
	normal{wood .2
		ramp_wave  scale .5  rotate <0 90 0>
		warp{turbulence .0625  octaves 6  omega 3  lambda .35}
		translate  50/6*z
		warp{repeat 50/3*z offset <75,20,0>}
		translate -50/6*z
	}
	pigment{wood  color_map{[0 rgbf .75*<1,.5,0,1>][1 rgbf 1*<1,.5,0,1>]}
		scallop_wave  scale .5  rotate <0 90 0>
		warp{turbulence .0625  octaves 6  omega 3  lambda .35}
		translate  50/6*z
		warp{repeat 50/3*z offset <75,20,0>}
		translate -50/6*z
	}
}

In mi mind their are peanuts. But I'll make them smaller.

Thank you.

I did some teste with radiosity but with little succes. I'll start a
final version of the scene and I'll post the results.

Alberto.

Very nice!

I'm still trying to guess exactly how you accomplished the "worn" look on
the book cover?
Very nice coffee too. About the only thing that jumped out at me was the
spoon. Maybe a bit more metallic looking?

What exactly do you mean? Spectral color calculations instead of RGB
based ones? Physically based BRDF functions? Physically accurate
lighting calculations (polarization, dispersion, diffraction, etc...)?

If you want "correct" results using "real" equations, you will have to
use "real" parameters and settings, and probably a new way of specifying
texture and interior...and the result would not be fast and may not
really be easier to use. And you would also have to find someone with
the knowledge and time to write it all...

As it is, POV can produce extremely realistic looking images, and with a
few additions could be improved further...there isn't any need to use
completely accurate equations everywhere or simulate every lighting
effect. That would just slow things down and get in the way of people
who just want to make "pretty pictures".

I like the smooth look. The turbulence in the wood is perfect!
The shade must be pretty thin (or translucent, as it were) because it doesn't
cast much of a shadow. That's my one nitpick.

I really hate the glare on this monitor. I put my hands up to the screen and
the reflections in the lamp just jumped out. They're pretty sweet!
