Sure make him reflective and place him over a checkered plane and you might
have a start:-)

Sorry, I was kidding about the mascot thing. Just thought ya'll would get
a kick out this character, or Pogo the Penguin as I like to call him.

That penguin looks very much like the lonely little cartoon one of yesteryear
to me, that's on the cutesy side to me.
POV-Ray animal mascot huh...?
Maybe a platypus. Yeah, that's it. Definitely a platypus.

Btw, I'm sure that's been suggested before. Maybe back when the custom-compile
thing got going full-steam with MegaPov?

You thinking of Hoboken Penguin from the Bugs Bunny shorts? That's where I drew
inspiration for this one - minus the top hat.

Povey Platypus - that has a nice ring to it. :)

You want POV represented by a species in which the males are equipped
with poisonous spines? I think there's some deep rooted fear of POV
going on here :)
Bye for now,
Jamie.

Penguin Computing ( http://www.penguincomputing.com/ ) might object POV use
of their mascot ...

My penguin is NOT tux. If I wanted him to be I would have modeled him that way.
But again I was just joking about the mascot thing...

If the POV-Team is willing, Rusty can be the mascot.

Yes, very good...
Also with the big mouth and I think there maybe something with the belly as well
(and the feet and...)
The surface he's sitting on is a bit yucky though.

Heh :)
I did originally intend to suggest him/her/it as a possible mascot, but I
decided he's not versatile enough to fill that post; he is just good at standing
on a checkered plane, looking melancholic... Mind you, I think he's pretty
competent at that <g>

It's an isosurface -
#declare Pigfunc = function {pigment{spiral1 1}}
#declare Funkyfloor =
isosurface {
function {y+Pigfunc(x,-y,z)}
threshold 0
accuracy 0.01
max_gradient 3.9
contained_by {box {<-25,-4.99,-25>, < 25, 0.01, 25>}}
texture {
pigment {color rgb < 0.5, 0.85, 1>}
finish {
specular 1 roughness 0.0025 ambient .1
}
}
}
object { Funkyfloor translate y*-.5}
