Saw something similar to this on a wall in an office where I'm doing
some work and though it could be easily done in POV.

Enjoy, I think!

This is actually an animation, triggered off of your eyeballs. When your
eyes slowly move across any line, the animation uses AI to play footage
of black dots appearing at the intersections you're NOT looking at.....

I like those sort of optical illusions, and I remembered another one I
like, hang on, I'll go and POV it.

<insert time lapse>

OK, there should be a .png attached showing another variant of the one
you posted.

Bye for now,
     Jamie.

Works fine in Netscape 4.7 and IE 3, link or location. New IE users seem
to be the only ones affected.

Netscape 4.7 and IE 5 here. I get a 403 with both on the direct link.
The location works but it just transfers me to kivisalo.net

Yes. :)

Your visual system is sensitive to light ratios. The ratio of intensity
of adjoining pixels is negligable, so if not seeing the picture as a
whole you don't see the contrast.

I get the same error message in NS 4.72 but the image will display
in IE4. Strange !

Well, I see a light gray smudge that sometimes for brief "flashes"
develops a small dark spot in the center(the gray around the edges fades
out and the center darkens). I take it that isn't supposed to be what I
see...maybe monitor gamma. :-)

I see a sphere with an unevenly scaled black and yellow checker texture
above/in front of a plane with the same texture rotated 90 degrees. Am I
supposed to see something else?

By strictest definition a shade of a color has the same hue and lower
intensity. You can't have a shade of balck.

No. I don't see a circle. I see a hazy blurred grayish area surronded
by a white background but I don't see a circle per se.

Sure ya do, there's lots of 'em. Every set of points which is the same
approximate shade of white is a circle. :)
