I think they are distant cousins... One a city, disco lovin', alien...
The other ( Al ) a sort of urban farmer in to visit his cousin in N.Y....

How about an intergalactic, space, agricultural, worker...??
Any how he looks like he wears the cloths of a working man...
Maybe the handy man on an important reconnaissance mission...

AL travels on his own in his small spacecraft, exploring foreign worlds and

I don't know. My thought was that mushrooms could be fairly easy to model
compared to machinery, and also being space mushrooms they could have really
interesting textures.
