In my opinion it would be nice to see the mariners coat blowing open in
the wind...
Some detail in the cloth (coat & maybe the slacks) to give the
appearance of wrinkles would be nice...
Overall the scene is beautiful...
The model just looks plane in comparison...

Nice piece of art. Not sure about that title though. I had to wonder a
little about the red hair on the "ancient mariner". Maybe a tanner color
for the face and grey for the hair would be better?
Anyway, you're banned from posting here for a few weeks in order to keep
other peoples morale from dropping.

Fantastic! Has a moody feel to it. Makes you wonder what thoughts are
going through his head. Past adventures? A lost love one?

I can't wait to see how it evolvs. keep up the good work.

Mick:
I just thought of something for the grass. The texture, as it stands now,
seems too uniform. Instead, try this: make each stem fade from green to
yellow or lightish green along it's length. Also, randomize the diffuse
amounts for the entire plant. And radomizing how high the plants are may
be a good idea, too.
Another idea: Make some more areas of shadows on the mariner, or lower the
ambient.

Good work so far, keep it up!

On my monitor the Mariner is almost in silloette. I like it the
way it is but perhaps if I turned up the brightness to max it
would be a different story.

hi Ken
Thanks fot the thumbs up!

He is meant to be almost a silhouette but I'm going to modify him so he is
wearing a victorian style cloak which is blowing slightly in the wind.

I like this - one of those pictures where the title is part of the picture,
giving it it's context. Howabout an old and faded wedding-invite, half
buried by sand?
