Wonder how it would look on the tail of a 747?

Something like this? Just a quick render, not trying for glamour here.
Model from 3Dcafe possibly, not a 747 near as I can tell. Just happened to
have it around. Oh, and this was my version of Chris Colefax's logo.

Bob

This is wonderful, Chris. Very inventive.

And thanks for the code.

Looks great, just a bit of nitpicking:

The pattern of the sand is continued inside the shell, which is somewhat
unrealistic (the wind/water creating the pattern is influenced by the shell and
therefore it should change near/inside the shell) maybe try an isosurface with a
pigment function and a warp at the position of the shell.

Very distinctive livery, POV-Air (without the media).

Thanks Bob.

Wow, this is, as always from you, very nice!

My only complaint is that the moon-like shape has in this image been
distorted so much that it isn't really recognisable anymore. If the sand
covered the shell in a little different way it would be much more obvious.

Nice work anyway!

Teehee!
I think that's a 727?
