About a month ago, I had an idea for a Halloween scene, but since I've
been spending my time messing with the Japanese room, I didn't start
working on this until last night. I don't think it'll be done in time. :(

Obviously, this is still very much a work in progress, but I wanted to
get some early comments. Does it convey the right mood? Is it eerie?
chilling? courteously deferential?

Very cool! The scene has this "skewed" feel --- almost like reality is
distorted in some way. Very cool water-texture(TM) --- or is that an iso?

Thanks!

That's just wrinkles on a plane, along with typical water settings
(variable reflection, specular, partial transparency, etc etc).

My original plan was to add some graves, dead trees, a pumpkin, maybe
some zombies if it wasn't too much trouble, etc etc.. but at this point,
I'm not sure if populating such a stark landscape is such a good idea,
and it won't be done by Halloween anyway, so I might go for something
more surreal and "abandoned", instead.

It has a really nice alien planet feel to it. Or maybe
distorted reality.

I like the faint glow behind the hill.

I've got a pumpkin include file on my web page, in the "POV Macros &
Objects" section. It's there to be used.

I thought that this was an ocean scene, until a closer look revealed that the
"swell" on the right is supposed to be land. Perhaps a clearer definition
would help. A old gray dying tree would also help.
