Hi !

If you intend to have sweet little animals in your lab, here is
something that may be useful... (I hope).

The straw is generated by some macros in POV 3.1 code, but this demo
scene uses some MegaPOV features (radiosity, ...).

Source code (with poor comments) will be posted in p.b.s-f.

Bouf.

A fantastic hay straw looks like to me.

Sir, that is some excellent straw you have there. Very good job. It's even
better because of the radiosity. It really looks very realistic.

This has a crisp natural look to it that is much more pleasing than that
which usually passes for "photrealism."

I love the way the straw bends to accomodate the edge of the box. Very
realistic.

i'm downloading now. great job. can it be modified to lay other
objects this way? it doesn't assign a name to each piece by chance does
it?

It could use some radiosity (even the defaulty crude kind would do) to
soften the shadows.

Nah, the tail is messed up because I rushed the image. Rabbit tails are
shorter and more fluffy.

Wow!

Obligatory p.b.i. nit-picking: Albino rabbits have red eyes.

Well-trained rabbits to be staying in the box like that. The lab doing
invisible force field testing?
You're rabbit looks far better as a group I think. That singular one just
looked too much like this concrete one I have outside as I said before.

Well, sorry. In fact, the macros really need Megapov. Sorry for the 3.1
users (is there anybody out there that still uses 3.1 ????)

And thanks for all your comments. ;)

It uses the same technique as Gilles' grass macros. A "patch" of straw
is first created, and then you can put it anywhere you want, any number
you want, without using too much memory....

You must be experimenting in "safe" straw for animals... Otherwise it won't
be long until all those rabbits are infested with mites, fleas, chiggars,
and everything else horrible... But then again, this could all be part of an
experiment in parasite life cycles. :) Someone should post the rabbits after
living in the straw for a few weeks. ;)

Great image, BTW.

You'll need at least two of those to get started with.
That texture for the fur is nicely done.
