There are a couple of include files out there that can show the correct star
positions for any point on the Earth.  I don't have the links for them, but
I'm sure someone does.

I couldn't see much until I used GIMP to "Equalize" colors - which
resulted in a day scene with a night sky!  It looks very good to me.

The far shore is a bit strange.  Is there a small island in that end of
the lake?

There is an island in the middle of the lake; the scene uses a fairly large
camera angle so perspective is a bit screwy.
