I decided to have some fun with a few macros I created...
Comments/suggestions appreciated.

Nice modelling. I think some variation in brick/stone color would do this
more justice.
Are the windows actually windows into the inside? They are changing in
color from the outside light, not what would be expected.

Yeah, I agree. The sad part is that I built functions into the macro to
randomize color and intensity...yet neglected to turn them on:(

Well...yes and no. There's a lightly larger boxs differenced from the
primary cylinder of the tower to provide room for the windows, but the light
"emitting" from each window is purely ambience.
I don't know what you mean by the windows are "changing in color."

Lighter on the lit side and darker on the shadowed side. Only if they were
a pigment color which is not completely filtered (clear) would they be
changing in brightness. Well, diffuse and specular highlighting also
effects that regardless of transparency too, especially when reflection is
there.
