Ok a few notes before you all poke, prod, and disassemble the image
looking for bugs (no pun intended). I modeled both the Beetle and the
Beetle, hehe, in Rhino 3D. The Volkswagen Beetle took a LONG time to
model, and while it doesn't look like the new beetle, which is what I
was trying to model, nor like the old one, I have played with it too
much to fix anything. I actually don't mind it that much. As for the
Scarab Beetle I modeled that from a rather stylized drawing of one, if
anyone has some GOOD pictures of Scarab beetles, or other beetles please
let me know. One of the problems I've had modeling these is the lack of
a TOP image. This kind of modeling, especially the Volkswagen beetle is
harder than it looks, and I'm actually kinda proud of it:-)

That looks quite good. The VW looks a bit like a toy but I
think that that's the way you intended it.

Well no actually that's just it, that is why I said it doesn't look like
either the new or old beetle. I was trying to model a realistic beetle
but I don't mind the toy look I ended up with.

A good start. One thing about beetles (the carbon-based kind) is that
the pattern of spots is usually symmetrical on the right and left
sides.
