Here's a new image of the candle holder i "copied". i'll have to work on
making a more realistic scene for it, like a table for it to sit on or
something.

Radiosity will add a nice touch to this scene...

That reminds me of my pumpkin image (on my website).
The shadows look good like that.

What? No area light to do soft shadows? You had used them before so I figured this
one would
have.
The bright tan (or whatever color) surrounding it really throws the lighting off.
Should be
similarly lit on the walls. But then I see you aren't stopping on this yet.

Do you mean the sky_sphere should be the same color as the walls? I'm going
to fix it up and make a real room instead of just a skysphere and a plane.
I'll change the light to an area light and probably add another very dim
light to give the surroundings a little light.

Oh, no no no. The room you have in mind should be good, it was just the fact about
that sky
sphere being so bright and very unlike a candle-lit area. But also because there
would need to
have been a ambience, at least, on the the table and candle holder. Well, not really
on the
mirrored finish part of the candle holder. Or secondary light source, even if it had
to be via
radiosity, to explain the lighting as it was. That was my observance of it anyhow.
