This is a sample for a small tool I posted in povray.binaries.utilities that
reads hpgl-files and writes prism/lathe definitions for POV. See my posting in
p.b.u. for details.

ASCII (I didn't even know, there is binary HPGL :-)

Until now I only used in combination with vectorisation programs (Corel Trace,
Kvec), I don't really know, whether it is 100% kompatible with the
HPGL-Standard.

I once tried to find a document in the web that explains HPGL files.
Looks
like HP keeps all the information to itself. How did you find out.
Reverse
engineering?

Hewlett Packard Graphics Language - usually used for plotting 2d

Good idea. Now one can convert floor desks from CAD to POV,
for example ;-).

I think there are already a lot of programs converting dxf-files to some kind of
POV-definition.

BTW, yesterday I recognized that it does not work with AutoCAD plotting files
and probably also not with many other programs :-(

I will see what i can do about it sometime ;-)
