I really like the way you've explained them. I've always had problems with
joints in my blobs. Now I know how to defeat the problem.

How did you make the "height field" images? I can think of 3 ways: 
isosurface with custom functions, isosurface with pigment function using 
a blob pattern, and height field using "pattern" type image using a blob 
pattern.
Were any of these guesses close?

Yep, that's it!

Once I got it to work, it worked surprisingly well in all situations. The
blob pattern works a little illogical though (in my opinion), but I'll
e-mail you about that later.
