Welp, I couldn't help fiddling with the various code snippits on this topic
either. I rather liked the result and I thought I'd post it.

You know, I love the way different people see different things in an image.
It never would have occurred to me to see that. Not until you mentioned it

I'd call it turtle shell mixed with fossilized amber. A kind of
inanimate-animate object (?!)

Very nice ! Makes me think of a kind of
cocoon for insects that live in places where
the sun never shines.
I like the texture on this thing very much.
Could you please post your code for the
"coca-cola" texture (and the texture for
the plane) ?
Are there light sources inside the curl ?
