Hi all,

Here's my latest little pet project, modelled from the real thing, if it
looks to grey thats because i had to lighten the textures up so the detail
could be seen, and the glass texture isnt right (its not far off)

Wow!

<jk>
I assume that it comes with params to adjust focus/stops/etc. and that it
does work as a lens.

How did you do the text - image map or using text?

Seems to be text object sinc e some of it seems to stand
over the surface of the lens (at it is in the real world).

I did this once for my receiver, this is a hell of a job ;-)

You probably would have been alright to leave it darker, can see it fine in
the reflection anyhow.
It looks good but no coating on the glass? And the light gray metal inside is
far off from any lenses I've seen. Mine here is rather black even with
reflection of that white I'd think it should be near black. Your messing with
Ray Trace (akin to Mother) Nature when you artificially change an image to see
it better ;-)

err no, that would be sadistic !

its a image map, with the same image ised for a bump map, just to give a
little relief, i thaught about using text objects, but it didnt work out to
well, and an image/bump map seemed so much simpler. (the text is the only
image maps)

Another way to do it would be to use the object pattern in MegaPOV. It
started out as a text pattern, but I realized it would be just as easy
to make it work for every object. Just use it with a text object, and
use one of the mapping warps to apply it to the lens.

Gee... that sure does Mikemillerish! And in case you are wondering,
that's the greatest compliment I have in stock for a camera image :)
Congratulations!
