Last night a POVer going under the nic of Zilvah asked me on ICQ if I
knew how to render one of those twisted torii thingies. I tried and

Ah yes, but was it not supposed to be strands of wire or something twisted
around in a toroidal shape instead? I wasn't there, so no idea ;-)
It is very good, must be a isosurface as I can't imagine it being anything
else.
