There are 400005 blades of grass in this pic - took 5 hrs to render - 3hrs
45 mins to parse!

Wow! That's really big. How much memory did it use?

Does this use the source I sent you? Looks nice. I wonder what this would
look like on a far away hill? (Maybe you should borrow some RAM from a
couple friends, and give a full scene a try. :)

Yep, my next project - I want to create some rocks based on samuals basalt
columns and about 2 million blades of grass on a HF using your mod and some
of mine on Samuals code. Then I'll throw in some media, a few rocks and
radiosity and go on holiday for a month!!!!!

Don't forget focal blur, and a bunch of transparent and reflective
objects with blurred reflections. And maybe you could fit my proximity
pattern in there somewhere, too. :-)

When I create a field of grass with 50.000 objects or up my computer runs
out of memory! I use a PIII-600 with 256Mb ram! That should be enough,
shouldn't it?

Greetings, Bugs74

Should be more than enough - I used to regulary use a million or two objects
in experiments on my old 300 mhz P2 with 128 mb of ram

Looks impressive, but the shadows are a bit harsh in places. If you put
in a good looking sky and filled in the shadows a bit with some
radiosity, this could be an awesome pic...

Are you talking about the trace() modification? I would be real greatful if
you could post the changes that are necessary to the code.

Thanks,

Equiprawn
