If my memory is correct, focal blur does it's own anti-aliasing,
ignoring the usual kind. Or was it post_process focal_blur? Or do you
mean something else by "aa"?

Admit it... you're just too cheap to buy her real roses... (that, or you're
poor like the rest of us :)

Great work. I want photons and area_lights next time. ;)

I am planning to spend several hours today at a flower boutique to
make a birthday bouquet for my loved one's birthday. I regret not
having the time to model and render one to show the girl who's about
to arrange the flower basket. She'll have to go with my explanations
and fiddling around :)

I think area lights were used. Look at the banding on the wall.

Sure that isn't just focal_blur or multiple lights?

A shocking amount of time for such a computer, but I don't shock as easily
anymore.
She has got to like this. Wonderfully done. The little beads look like water
maybe, in which case they are sitting on a extremely waxy surface. I don't
care much for faceted organic objects but this still looks neat.

Beautiful

Water droplets tend to flatten out more - due to gravity (unless they
are glass :-)
I never saw a specular rose
But now I have

yes there glass - i was going to do either petals or water, but glass beads
seemed to look better.

i tried it without a highlight, and it didnt have the same effect, a touch
of highlight helped to show it up.

the banding is caused by some blinds off set with a tight area light behind
