Well I thought I'd post a work in progress of my latest scene and get
some feedback. Please don't comment on textures as I'll work on texturing
when the modeling is complete. The column is by Nathan O'Brian, height
fields
created in Vue d'Espirit. Gray wall is a height field created in Paint Shop
Pro
The red box ot the back is to give me a feel for sizes while modelling. (It
is 2
metres high)

Plans are :
Roughen up the floating stone platforms
Books on the bookshelf (Gilles' makeshelf macro)
    Textures.
Glass bottles with coloured liquids on the shelf on the right.
An open book on the table
    A scroll on the column
Wooden beams above the gray wall
A view out of the windows

Comments?

Gail

I always knew some abyss was lurking somewhere at the local library.

A ceiling of some sort rather than just having it looking like a TV studio.
It looks like those ceilingless stage prop kind of things right now.
A more colorful fog as it decreases in height might be interesting. Either
that or in various spots but then that would require media, layered ground fog
could be done however.

I plan to change the fog to media so that I have more control (glowing
spots,
bumpy surface ...).
Maybe some wooden beams and a ceiling.

I like the concept.

The faces of the stones in the side and back wall seem too smooth maybe
some softening in PSP to roughen the surfaces and round the edges.

Look forward to seeing the final, textured picture.

When you're done could you post the source? I've been trying to make some
good media fog like you're talking about, but I'm not having much success.
It would be really helpful to have some actual code to learn from.

The library is lookin' good! Nice and scary!

Regards,
Dave

I like it, it is what I imagined the Library in Unseen University in
Anhk-Morpork* would be like. Maybe a little bit darker though. (* see
Terry Pratchetts Discworld series of books)
