Being new, I am going to ask a stupid quesiton. What is MegaPOV and is it
freeware?

Yup, MegaPOV is freeware and you can download it here:

There's a lot of new stuff in here, as photons, isosurfaces and such
(anybody correct me if I made a mistake), so you have more things to
play with :))

Yes, it is freeware. It is basically an add-on for POV (so you need POV as
well) that adds lots of features to POV and corrects a few bugs (and adds a
few of its own ;)).
If you haven't used POV, I would suggest that you leave megapov alone for
the moment.

I finally got everything downloaded, but ran into a glitch. I went to run
the converter for converting POV files into Moray. I don't have the
DOS4GW.EXE required to run the program. Does anyone know where I can get
that? I am on a win 98 machine

I suggest to use POV-Ray for Windows, not DOS.
Also note that you cannot convert every object in a POV file to Moray, only
some types of objects will be converted.
