My latest version of the tug "Marcus Garvey". At 9 hours, this was my
longest render ever! (the original image is 1024x512).

Changes from the previous version:
    - More details around engine cup
    - Fuel tanks entirely redone
    - Airlock added
    - Many textures tweaked
    - Stains and streaks added around rear of back compartment, airlock,
pipe attachment

Still to do:
    - Add navigational thrusters (what do these things look like,
anyways?)
    - Design a cockpit to attach to far side of front compartment
    - More greeblies on middle compartment (Dishes, antennae, etc..)
    - More blinky lights
    - Markings
    - Redesign compartment connectors

Any suggestions? What else does it need? What must be changed?

I rather like this image.. it's coming along well.

Simon

Hey, this is a very decent image.
The way I see it, you must have turned all you ambient finish to 0. That gives
that realistic touch ( along with all the details ).

Yet, something is missing in the background, but something too distracting ( a
far-off nebulae, or a dimly lighted planet).

The little local red light at the front gives a nice touch.

Congratulations.

A very dim background maybe?

>I rather like this image.. it's coming along well.

I agree, it is a great image, with a lot of attention to detail and
excellent modelling & texturing.

Its an extremely nice image, but I feel theres a lack of scaling, for
example this image would fit nicely in as the size of a hand held torch, not
that I can suggest anything that would help, though I think the cockpit
would help.

I meant *not* too distracting.

I agree. When i saw it I thought you were trying to become a Jedi Knight
by constructing your very own lightsaber :)

but i still like the textures and lights. the overall design is very
fitting.

Great image !

Now lets see the front.

What about some windows near the front?

Nah.. I don't think I'll be doing that soon.

The front is just a blank face, not even fully textured. It's on my to-do
list :)

Not bad at all! -- although it does still have a somewhat 'lightsaber with
transistors' look to it. :-?

I don't see any transistors(unless the ship is a couple can-type ones
glued together), but those fuel tanks look a lot like axial-lead
resistors or diodes...
Are they fuel tanks? They look too small to propel the ship for any
useful distance in a reasonable amount of time.
