by the way, this is only the third model i've ever made, so any pointers
would be appreciated. (what were my first two? a telescope and a desk)

Nice detail. Wish you all the luck (skill) on finishing it.
I would think the most difficult hurdle has been leapt by getting this far.

nope not a word..
looks very good so far, i had a x-wing star wars toy years ago, and this
look very like it so far - nice one..
