I am having trouble with the leaves in this render.
I am using the Spline tree macro for the tree.
Is there any help for the outline around the leaves?

Without seeing the code, it looks like a media problem.

It looks like an image mapped to part of a sphere. You might need to make them
hollow, or use filter instead of transparency. I can't remember which, but
I've run into this before with media.

Don't know if this will work, but try adding max_trace_level to the
global_settings block of your scene file, something like:
global_settings {max_trace_level 50}
You might need a higher figure than 50, but don't count on it working as
it's only a guess.

Hello,
I am assuming you are using the default leaves with the macro and also have
fog with media in your scene. I've had this problem before, and the only
solutions are to...
1) remove the fog or
2) remove the media
3) use a leaf object without transparent areas. I think there is a good leaf
macro included in the Gilles Tran' tree generator.
I think it should work fine with fog or media alone. I seem to think that
object media works ok as well. Hope this helps,

You need to make all objects that construc the leaves hollow:
just add:
hollow
or
hollow on
and it should work.

If he is using the default leaves they should be already hollow - I
don't think this is the problem.

I think the problem with having to use hollow to enable object media
is that it also allows for the fog to enter the object as well. This
causes the fog and media to mix causing the effect seen in this image.
I have never really been able to resolve the conflict either.

Thanks for all the responses that you people have
given. I checked into the media/fog ideas and
found a few fog statements in one of the include
files that I was using. As this scene takes about
8 hours to render, I'll have to get back to you on
how much this helps.

Don't forget to not use a fog with filtered color or you'll likely never get it to
look right, only
'transmit' or 'rgbt' or none at all in fog works perfectly.
