Below an image I made some weeks ago for Masternova, a course on
agri-business management.
Full detail in English here
http://www.inapg.inra.fr/ens_rech/dsa/masternova/masteng.htm for those
interested.
It is being used on posters, brochures, advertising material etc.
The image is a remake of one I did in 1994 for the same course, that can
be seen here http://www.inapg.inra.fr/ens_rech/dsa/icones/masternova.jpg

until I replace it by the new one...

Nothing very fancy povray-wise. Initially, I wanted to use a grass macro
for the fields but I hadn't the time to do it right, so I used image
maps instead... The lighting could be better, too. I only had a few
days, part-time, to do it and the image wasn't supposed to be realistic
anyway (lame excuses, I know). The gentle swaying in the DNA strands was
obtained through the vturbulence function. The cows (who replace the
birds in the original version) are Poser cows, that I find a little
blocky, even for holsteins. Main tool : Megapov 0.4 with radiosity.

You know that it looks great, you know that everyone will say it looks great
and that you're a genius: why do you even post it? Anything we say will just
be ditto (mega-dittoes, in this case). Anyway, it looks great! I really like
the cows and the colors you chose. Now look what you made me do, repeat what
everybody else says. I hate you! ;)

PS: I wish I had Poser. It's not like I haven't had the oportunity to obtain
it, but I'm trying to cut down on the piracy. The guilt is getting to me
again. The last thing I got was Illustrator (we needed it to make the
yearbook). It's working good, but I hate seeing "GaBoss Crackz Team" on
every file I make. <sigh>

You can always find something negative if you try hard enough.

In this image for example I would say that the DNA strings should go in
pairs
like this // // // // instead of this / / / / / / / / .
I don't know much about how DNA looks, but I believe that they usually go
"in pairs", even in simple models.

See? Easy! ;-)

But I must also say that everything else is excellent!

Greetings,

Rune

In fact the former genetician in me is appalled at the license taken by the
"artist".
That's the price to pay for schizophrenia.

I rotated my swivel chair and said to my long-time colleague "how about
making a new picture for the course, the old one's getting really
old...". And she said "yes, good idea, but I need it pretty quickly,
because the new brochure should be out in 2 weeks".
