Oh, well, the latest IRTC round has finished and once again I failed
to get my submission finished...

This time, however, I did managed to make a useful macro - a
floodlight. The attached images show the various configurations for
the light (on or off and various power sources) and an example of its
use. All the characteristics of the lamp (position, texture) as well
as the light attributes (area light, fade distance, etc) can be passed
as parameters to the macro.

I'd be grateful for any comments and suggestions on the floodlight,
and if anyone wants I'll post the source to p.b.s-f.

Cheers,
Ian.

I am going to guess that this is as far as you got on your entry...
I would say you have a lot of building to do yet... =)
But on the bright side you can work through the night...

Excellent...

The floodlight is okay, I mean it's usual 3d construction..... but those
bricks down there are awesome! You've done inspired me now! I don't know
if my inspiration will lead to anything, but I thank you for showing us
your pic.

The IRTC shouldn't stand in the way of progress anyhow :-)

I really like the brickwork you've done. Macro? Or completely hand coded?
Probably a combination. The floodlight is neat too.

Nice bricks. great control of light. Please share the source for those
bricks!
I understand about the IRTC, I tried three times before this round and got
a piece in finally

The brickwork is created entirely via a macro. Its still pretty rough
(never really got round to finishing it) but it just about does the
job. You specify the max height and length of the wall plus how many
bricks deep the wall is (the sample image was 3 deep). It should fill
in the mortor in the correct places, but there is a small error and
some of the bricks end up floating!

I'll tidy up the macro code as it stands and post it as a 'beta' to
p.b.s-f and see if I can spare some time to finish it off.

Cheers!

OK... I've posted the macro to p.b.s-f under "Ruined Wall". The
attached image is the output from the sample scene. Please let me know
if any of you use the macro!

Man, this macro would be great for creating what I always imagined the
"Slums" would look like in the old ad&d computer game "Pool of
Radiance". I might have to try it out some day...
