This reminds me a lot of Big Birther, (a fantastic children's 
TV program that I havn't seen for a while).

For the anim have a conveyor belt, a box on the floor by the 
arm, and have POV primitives moving along the conveyor belt, 
the arm could picl them up and put them in the box.  

Or you could just have it whealding a light saber.
