Thankyou for all the suggestions. Here is my latest attempt. I like the
refractions of the liquid. Very realistic as compared to what I work
with :-)

I'd suggest playing with the ior value a bit,
the tubes now look asthough they're floating in
mid air. But this is comming along nicely.

I see what you mean, a lot of that is due to the background, when put
against a darker background, it looks ok. But alas, this is only the
begining... :-)

nice, but personnally i would
put the camera closer, and a touch higher, make the ground more
interesting - like a wooden desktop maybe, and maybe make the wall a touch
more interesting - just for better refrac.. and less grey, a second ligh
above the existing one and just to the other side of the camera, a couple of
tubes lying down, maybe a beaker or 2, a bunson burner (fun little gadgets
those), maybe add some fall off to the lights, maybe make the floor less
grey and more off white marble, spatulas, a heap of some powder (cobalt?),
and nice big lump of crystal, etc etc ect
so far so good tho, and you have done the hard part already (i spend hours
playing with glass and liquid textures)
and never do a last attempt! - i have never finished an image in my life -
there is allways something a can add or tweak at a later date to make it
that wee bit better :)))
