"Zero warp factor" is when you as the first poster of a message in a
thread post a message with a subject line covering a entirely different
topic than what the body of the message contains. 

It is like if I posted a thread with the topic 'Quantum Mechanics - why
is it good for you?', and then the post contained ramblings about 'A
hollow earth'. ;-)

The expression is a variant of warping a news-thread. Much as we've done
with this one. The topic of the discussion is far off from what the
header describes.

The correct way to reply to a post like this would be the way I've
replied to your post, by renaming the subject of the thread.

I remember there was a Scientific American article with a title something
like "Zero Gravity" and then talked about smashing up baseball bats.
