This has proved to be unbelievable tricky. I'm not really happy with this
and have another version which I think will be better but I would like to
gather your comments anyway.

Yes, indeed it looks both unbelievable and tricky. Lovely concept and
presentation.
I think you should move the wave center away from the image.
And also perhaps work a bit on the stone texture.
Source will be appreciated...

Orignally ther was to be an object rising out of the sea and I may well put
it in at a later date - the idea of moving the wave is a good one, I'll try
it

The stone texture has dissapeared with the jpg compression!!! I'll rough it
up a bit!

Looks great to me. Only thing that bothers me a little is the secondary
lighting. It might be more dramatic with more contrast between the
illuminated area of the rock and the shadows.

I like the rock formation it reminds me of something Roger Dean(Yes
album covers)might do.

Well, the water ripples seem to eminate from one point that if very clearly
seen, and the right hand leg of the portal looks like it gets too small to
support it, but it looks cool. The clouds seem to "zoom" too much, tho.

Nice. I don't see how that "moon" could be illuminating this side of the rock
formation, so another one present off-camera?
Anyway, I like the soap film look to the portal.

Actually, Bobs mention of hte moon got me thinking... maybe one moon outside
the portal and another one inside?

Ooh! Aah! How was the rock made?
The only part I don't like is the rock texture; although it does contrast
nicely colorwise. I don't know what to do with it, but keep the same colors.
