Using a normal pattern with the camera statment can create some very
interesting effects and is worth the time playing with. I find that
taking the time to use some of the more obscure features like this
one can yeild some very surprising results.

All you need is a link at your links page which could be a URL pointing to a new
webspace directory without a index.html. Like:

http://home.pacbell.net/tylereng/images/

and upload your renders to there. Then when people use that link they'll see a
list of them; no need for fancy web page stuff and very simple, no maintenance,
only uploading to be done.

I'm guessing reflection/refraction with a wavy normal.

Nope. No reflection/refraction used anywhere.

5000+ primitives (box, cylinder, cone, and spheres) tightly arranged,
given a single random color, and then viewed through a camera that
has a waves normal applied to it. Oh and four different colored spot
lights highlighting the whole mess.
