Thanks. I forgot the stars. Was hoping no one would notice. ;)

It showed up posted to an earlier thread titled "home" started by TonyB
a few months ago. Name collisions happen on a server where the messages
do not expire - I have seen this happen a few times in the past.

Neat. Aren't those clouds at too high altitude?

Only if your newsreader doesn't do proper threading. They're supposed
to thread off the References: header. Perhaps there's a switch you can
turn on somewhere to fix this behavior.

Very nice. Compared to images of Earth (like at
http://planetscapes.com/solar/raw/earth/earthafr.jpg ) your atmosphere is too
high, but you know what? I don't care. It looks much more artistic this way.
In fact, this is an example of art looking better than real life. This is how
I want it to be..

Hope it doesn't get to distorted with stars in the back ground

Ooh
Aah
Your atmosphere is waaaaay to thick but I understand it is for visibility so
that's fine. Maybe you could use the Piqueres technique to give the clouds
more depth... is that a hurricane I see in the upper-right?

This is my reply to the first post somewhere back in 12/25... is where it got
stuck there is another response there too...
from rico:

My only negative comment is that the oceans are not usually
transparent, or calm! <smile> In other words, you really shouldn't be
able to see the underwater contours from this far away. It looks great
otherwise!

took the liberty of posting this cuz i do not see it here...

Yup there's a little problem with the image as far the contours go. I need to
touch it up to remove those and improve the land colors a bit. I'm going to put
the source in the binary scene files group but be warned that it isn't ready to
render without some other files.

If you're using an image_map (it looks like a TGA I have of the world) you
can paint the oceans a uniform blue color. It should also be possible to
use a solid ocean color to apply a bit more reflection to just that part of
the texture.
