The compression wrecked havoc with any subtleties of color.

Why thank you! How very kind of you. I am not aware that I did anything to
deserve this! On the contrary: I just posted another empty post....
I would love to understand what is a pdb and what is povchem (I do have an
idea: what can one do with it??).

PDB = Protien Data Base - 

A standard format for the exchange of molecular protien data
between scientist.

To me it looks more like the flexible printed circuit board connector
straps I used to manufacture.

Thanks Ken, I really must look into it. Feel stupid never to have heard of
PDB... I stopped doing chemistry in 1965, so I may be forgiven perhaps.
Oh, how we would have loved it to be able to model in this way back in
1965!!

No reason to. I think it was born by the internet and a need to have
reseach in these area available to all researchers world wide so there
was no needless duplication of efforts. It has done wonders in the
advancement in the study of protien molecules and the global exchange
of this type of information.

to chemical/molecular modelling programs that have direct support for
POV-Ray plus tools for converting between various molecular data

Well, maybe it is because I was taught to respect my elders and
you are one of the few around here that fit that catagory (I'm 44). :)

But I was prompted to post when I when to your CMPG front end page and
saw your amimation. I really like it.

I haven't tested the program yet. Bob certainly had high praise for it.

Couldn't tell you. Sorry.
A few years ago I made a lot of postscript files of chem models.
Any actual chemistry I picked up is forgotten.
Now they're just pretty pictures.
