Hey all,

I'm posting these mainly so Mikael Carneholm can see them. I'm using his
SmokeGen.inc file to make smoke and it's adding a strange artifact to my
scene... the glare on the edge of the glass door. If anybody has a clue as
to why this is happening, let me know. The first pic (nosmoke.jpg) is the
original. The second pic (smoke.jpg) shows the white glare on the edge of
the glass door of the stereo/tv cabinet.

This is not the answer you're looking for, but I think the glare makes the
image look better. Makes the glass door seem more substantial, more like real
glass than computer glass.

I agree with Simon. It gives the glass a firm and solid area that it takes up.
It may be accidental, but I'd keep it in there.
Sadly, I don't know why it's there, either.

This has to be a bug in POV-Ray itself - the only changes SmokeGen does to the
"outer scene" is to set max_trace_level to a value set by the user. This could
be something that occurs with glass & n number of media containers in the same
scene maybe? (just guessing here)

Maybe that could also explain why the red line (whatever it is) shows up behind
the glass as well in the affected scene.

The red line is the wing of an airplane model. It was turned off in the
first picture to save parse time.

I sort of like the effect even if it is a mistake... If it were greenish it
would look great...

Since max_trace defaults fairly low, could it be that some king of internal glare
shows up that originally was never reached before max_trace?

I would too if it didn't run the whole length of the door. Also, there is
"glare" on the back edge (the side by the hinge) which shouldn't be there.

I have max_trace set to 512.
