In a reply to a letter i got on the general group a brilliant idea came
to mind ...
i replied something to the affect of putting my two cents in... and well
...
i am half way there ... ( the easy half )
I'm afraid ol` Lincoln and his monument are going to be quite a task and
any help would be most graciously appreciated and most wonderful...

Seeing that horrid image posted by Simon yesterday got me thinking..
Back at elementary school we used to xerox our faces, producing fine art
with a very characteristic look. Now, if that light had a somewhat
linear falloff, you'd get a pretty good hf of your face.
With Lincoln you better borrow a bust from your local museum, cause I
doubt the coins have adequate embossing to produce this effect.

At one time I found some coin collecting sites on the Web and they had
adequate images of many coins and denominations. I was able to create a
bump map coin and one could make out the face but the lettering was
barely readable.

The US Mint has some good online images that I have used for making coins
with using bump maps.

I tried a prism but this is not near the detail i want but it looks good for
now...
