Hi all.
Over the last 12 months or so, I have admired the many POV images
that have appeared in this news group, and many times have thought that
many of them should be hung in a gallery for all to admire.
I found an old abandoned warehouse and I am converting it into an
art gallery for POV artists, some of which have already been hung in
this, the main hallway, although it may, at a later stage, be halved
into two separate rooms, as it is almost 100 meters long. There is
still a lot of work to be done, maybe some carpet on the floor, a new
paint job, etc, any ideas?
Here are two views of the main hall where the works are on display.
The two halls on either side of the hallway are, at the moment, empty,
hence the no entry sign in the left doorway.
The sofas are modifications of Thomas de Groot's easy chair.

Neat idea.

Great idea! When you finish this project, maybe you could set up a web
site and create a Myst-like virtual gallery, so you can travel around
inside of it. I would suggest that you work on the textures a bit, the
chairs look too smooth and plastic to me and the floor seems like it
could use some work (although I don't know if I would use carpet, I
personally like the wood). I also think that the floor seems a bit
empty, perhaps you could have a few pedestals with some interesting Pov
objects (like the POV users disk perhaps) that people have created on
them. I also think that overall the image scene is too dark, but I
think that Megapov's radiosity with a higher recursion level should fix
that. Overall I think that this is very good work, and I am very
interested in how this project turns out.

Great idea! Nice warehouse too, but I guess you'd have to animate it to
do justice to everyone.
Texture comments;
I would have decreased brilliance and increased diffuse on the chairs.
And is that a kevlar floor? :)
I think this scene needs radiosity, othervise the unlit parts becomes
very dull.
<sigh> I don't intend to sound so nazi. I'll add smileys to compensate.
:)

Kevlar is a synthetic fiber, a very strong one used in bulletproof vests
and other armor, and several other things that require a lot of
strength. What makes this floor look like it is made of kevlar? It looks
like some kind of yellow wood to me.

I agree, MegaPOV could certainly help here.

I was just beeing nazi-sarchastic. Those boards should have been cut at
different places in the log, or perhaps a little tilted along x or z.
These seem to be only the middle boards which make them look
unrealistic. Or like kevlar cloth, if you like. Have you seen kevlar
reeinforced sails?

I see what you mean now. Probably also using a couple different shades
of color for the wood would be a good idea, too.

Actually, I haven't. The only form I have ever seen kevlar in is the
thread, which is actually more like a floss. It is sometimes used in
fly-tying, which is a hobby of mine. It is too bulky to be used on small
flies as a thread, but is used on spun hair bass flies and other places
where a lot of durability is needed.

Fly tying as in fishing?
