I noticed a similar problem with sors and lathes when used in a scene with
a small object count. Pov expects there to be a certain number of objects
before it turns on automatic bounding. The bounding threshold is 25 by
default. In most of the simple scenes I've seen with photons, that's more
objects then they use.
