My personal opinion?
If there is an attempt to fake a poorly taken photo then lens
flare is reqired. A real scene or one taken by a good
photographer will noe have a flare.

I like big images, but JPG would be an idea.

But what happens if you like lens flare, and waste tons of film
photographing the sun trying to get one? (sorry i was 7 then :)
boy was i in lumber when my dad got that film back!!

Hehe! I do this with my dad's digital camera ALL the time!!! :)
Then there's always my game craze. . .I spent a long time in Unreal just
looking at the lens flare. . .
