Hi,

both images are really good. But the only mistake you and Thomas have done is
the fact, that it looks like the earth is a disk. Have you ever seen the horizon
at sea? There you can discover, that the horizon looks more like a top of a big
big big sphere than a flat disk. The earth is a sphere (I think Gallilei

So long,

Hello. ;-]
You both have done quite remrkable work with your ocean projects. The strengths
that each image has is polar to eachother. i.e. what makes either image
impressive is missing from the other.
Your image is a slight bit off color with a bit too much surface rippling.
However it expresses depth and expanse which is a significant factor in
emmulating the sea. Your sea seems a bit dry and the absence of the horizon
curve are the only real distraction from a perfect ocean.
Both images are lacking "layers" in the water. I've not tried it but I'm
wondering if well bounded media could be used to display the solidity of the
ocean's interior. You know how the water is very clear at the surface and light
penetrates, but as you descend past the plankton layer, minerals, dirt and etc.
become more dense absorbing and dispersing light (perhaps emitting, scattering
and absorbing media could be used for this).
I d/l your .mov last night - wow! very nice indeed. After viewing it several
times, I realized there was one thing I was missing from it - the gentle lolling
up&down of being on a boat and staring off into the horizon. Your animation
could really benefit if you had your camera mimiking that motion.
Perhaps you and Thomas could pool your resources and cross-develop a still and
animation that could make us all run for our dramamine....and applaud along the
way.

Add some groundfog to your image, make your ocean wetter (add specular
hightlights and reflection) and add a realistic sky and yours will look
better. Right now, the ocean in the small image looks more like water than
yours does.

Well I like your color, it give a sense of depth, yet the color used
looks like it should be an overcast day. But there are no cloud in the
sky. I like them both. The other one has to many highlights. It looks
like glass.

Hello, I just wanted to say that HTML posts aren't generally a good idea in this
newsgroup(one of the few flame-subjects we have, apart from MAX:-) and I
therefore ask you to send it as plain text.

i know of people who simply ignore all HTML, and those who suffer crashes due to
partially integgrated HTML support. so Please, stop sending HTML.
