here is a brutal thing on the recursed shape.
Coloured after it's length(so I got rotation correct)
rgb 0 at the base, rgb <2,0,0> at the top.
it's a bit brutal yet, but...

I see that it isn't using random. I was thinking this looked
fractal-like and maybe that explains it.

Well, it was called fractal, but it's basically a recursed function, no fractal
there.
You could use random, but that would kill the effect, wouldn't it ?
(I can write one if you want to see... *thinks a bit* yes...)

Well, I see it works. Higher recursion levels and more complex objects might
yield really interesting results. Keep us posted!
PS, I assume you have solved the problems yourself, so I won't bother for
now... <yawn>

I see. If you randomize it I'm sure it will simply be like many other
"trees" though. You can if you want, it's your baby.

Thats what I'm afraid of, and If i did, it wouldn't beat Gilles tree macro
anyway, would it? (No, I can say that, NO)

I could swear that you said that you did not know what coral looks like.
It looks like the objects in the two images you just now posted.

oh, ok.
*grinning*
Get the code and whack at it, see if you can make it produce something nice.
(Ask me nicely and I'll make a version that puts little spheres in the ends and
that fades in colour during recursion....)
