From the image I see here it seems that it is worth the wait.
Very nice.

Considerable improvement, but those bubble are throwing me off. Makes me
think of it as solid glass. Though I can see that air bubble could be
coming out of the house after a shake. You know what it's missing is the
small air pocket at top.

First of all, really nice! Reminds me of those snowy Warcraft II
battlegrounds back then.
Two suggestions, though. I think the highlight should be more focused.
Better yet, since you are using a soft light, use two highlights - a
phong for the large blurry one and a specular for the small focused
one. It will also look nice, IMHO, if is is seen that the light is
coming from a window, i.e. have a window-shaped highlight there. Will
add a little twyst to your concept, though, something like "a house in
a snowglobe in a house in a ...", and that may be undesired.
Since you are using Win95 you can use the uvpov patch to add some real
caustics to the image. This will slooow it down even more, but it will
be worth the effort and time.
Just my 36 leva .
