Hi everybody!
I played around a bit with the povray source today and came up with an angle
dependent pattern, ie a pattern that changes color depending on the angle
between the surface normal and the ray. It's *very* alpha right now but
seems to work ok so far...
So, what do you all out there think about it? Any need for this kind of
pattern?
/Anders

Looks fine to me... I'm looking forward to the source-code!

Yeah, I'll post the changes as soon as I get my hands on a patch utility...
Anyone know where I can find one for dos? I'd like one that's compatible
with the linux patch util...
Btw, It's very smal changes in the source code. The angle calculation is
made for all patterns to check for negative normals so no extra calculations
is needed... neat...
Oh, and can anyone come up with a good name for this pattern?
/Anders

Wouldn't that be Ab_Normal?

Chris Young once told me that they planned to include a generalised
"angle-of-incidence" feature, that will allow for variable reflection
or silk aspect. Your patch seems to give that nice "silk" aspect, so
maybe you could call that "silk", huh ?...
Cheers,
Fabien.

Wow. That's pretty cool. That'll make for some interesting animations.
