I have been working on an animation system that has a bunch of swarming
"bugs" zooming around and not hitting each other. I thought that
instead of an animation with each instantaneous position displayed, I
could make all positions displayed at once.

If it were all a single white nylon color this would be a picture of
what my wife does every time I take her fishing with me - in macro close
up. Might have a nice spaghetti algorithm going there as well. :)

See my "boids" animaiton on pov.bin.animations 03/05/99, with code!!.
That animation entry was a bunch of cones moving around. Other
possibilities include an animation of these cables growing, etc.
I have since, BTW, come up with a true 'flocking' animation with obstacle
avoidance, as opposed to a bug-swarming algorithm , but will hold off until
the IRTC.
